The Path Without Detours: The Only Choice – A Journey Beyond Illusion

Writer: Alison SarahAlison Sarah

illusion du choix

He walks.

The path beneath his feet is clear, yet as he moves forward, the landscape around him seems to come alive. Thousands of doors emerge on either side of the road, each bearing a promise.

Some are carved in gold, engraved with enticing words: “Fulfillment,” “Success,” “Perfect Love.” Others are cloaked in mystery, offering hidden truths, secret initiations, alternative routes to reach what he seeks.

He hesitates.

Is this not life? A long journey where one must choose wisely? A path where options must be weighed, mistakes learned from, the right doors taken to move forward?

He opens one.

For a moment, he believes he has discovered something new. An experience, a teaching, an unexpected turn. He immerses himself in it, thinking that at last, he has found what he was searching for. But soon, he realizes that the story repeats itself. The scenery changes, the faces vary, but the deep feeling remains: none of this is enough.

So, he opens another. And another.

And always the same impression: what he thought he was choosing is merely a shifting backdrop.

He believes he is moving forward.

But he is only walking in circles.

Is choice real?

A whisper rises within him.

“Let no image stand between you and God.”

Not a single one.

Not those that inspire dreams, nor those that create fear.

Not those that seem to bring comfort, nor those that appear to offer purpose.

Not even those that veil themselves in spiritual light.

What you are seeking is nothing but love. And yet, that love is already here. It has always been here, in the silent space behind all these images.

It is your own essence and His that you have denied by choosing illusion over truth.

All these doors were merely a way to avoid seeing what is, to delay the inevitable recognition. For to choose an image is to refuse the light that illuminates it.

But if the images fall away, what remains?

Where the Path Becomes Clear

He stops.

He looks around and sees the landscape change.

All the doors disappear.

Everything he once believed he had to choose no longer matters.

Then he remembers: “It is from the past that judgment must come.”

He understands that his mind has always searched among what it already knew. Every door was nothing but a recycled memory, an attempt to find elsewhere what can never be lost. But truth is not found in the past.

Silence settles within him.

He lifts his eyes and sees that the path has always been there—clear, simple, evident. He never needed all those doors.

He has nothing left to seek.

Nothing left to wait for.

He only has to remember.

He walks.

No longer to choose.

No longer to seek.

But because he knows the destination has always been here.

There is no more hesitation, no more waiting, no more searching.

The path is one.

The choice is one.

And it has already been made.
